| "Lolo Peak" as seen looking south from
the Lolo Trail near Anderson Gulch where Lewis and Clark camped on Sept.
11, 1806. As they travelled westward up Lolo Creek, Clark remarks "...the
mountains on the left high & Covered with Snow." (Photo by Carla Russell Behrens) |

the rare occurance of a full field of blooms. |

| "Bald Mount
Survivor" is an old pine tree on the south side of Bald Mountain above the
Lolo Trail. It has escaped some of the many fires that have raced through
the Lolo Trail forests over the centuries.
Bald Mountain was a bountiful open hillside
used as a popular campsite by all people that travelled the Lolo Trail.
